The City of Ottawa has presented a ten-point plan to try to recruit family doctors. Unfortunately, and it is evident that the bureaucrats have duplicated many of the hiring strategies already in place and will appoint of a Primary Care Recruitment and Retention Ambassador. I review these points and although the intent is commendable, their remains a lack of understanding of what drives a physician to choose a practice location.
