The Toronto Metropolitan University’s decision to lower the undergraduate GPA average to 3.3 for its medical school and guaranteeing 75% of its seats will be reserved for for Indigenous, Black, and other “equity-deserving” groups including 2SLGBTQ+, seems to be saying that they are not able to qualify with a greater average. Why? They are people with brains like anyone else who are quite capable of achieving the usual medical school requirements.
