There are some people who break out in hives and in medical parlance is called urticaria. Some know that it is because they are allergic to something they have eaten or have been exposed to through contact. There is another group of people for whom the association of cause and effect is not as clear but. These people suffer from Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria (CIU). Indeed there is a young woman in my practice that recently was diagnosed with this condition and I thought it would be helpful for all of us to learn about it. There are other who suffer from this condition who may not be aware of new treatment strategies to help relieve their symptoms.
