A protein to link all others

We have seen numerous studies in basic science research produce results that surprise the investigator and open up new insights into the pathophysiology or mechanism of disease. A study published in the July 13, 2006 online issue of the Journal of Clinical Investigation found that a protein previously linked to the development of type 2 diabetes and atherosclerosis may also be associated with asthma.
